I called Terminix to come out and investigate because I am scared to death to go and look for myself. The scratching sounds started a few months ago in one end of my house, and for the past two days I have heard them in the opposite side of the house. This morning I actually heard something walking up there. If you are nearby I would like to hire you. I am worried about Terminix. I have 4 Raccoons in my attic. They are getting in through a vent in the soffit. I have watched them from my bedroom window. When all 4 were out, at 0230 in the morning, I went out to cover the vent and they ran back in before I could get around the house. I have set the live trap you speak of and they reach through, take the bait and never sit off the spring door. I have no idea if there are babies or not, but there are 4 large ones. I purchased the cage, because I am on a very strict budget; however that was a year ago. Could you give me an approximate range of what it cost? Hello: I just read your article after watching four raccoons exit my attic. I knew they were up there but didn't know how many until I stood outside and waited for them. Anyway, I don't want them hurt. I just couldn't stand it. Monday I had a so-called wildlife removal person come out and he said since they were in the attic his traps would kill them. On top of that, he quoted me a price of over $600 and said somehow he would fix it that my insurance paid for it. I was laid off about a year ago and haven't been able to find work. Do you know of a person that could help in the Pittsburg area that doesn't want to kill them? They are very cute and if they were good tenants and wouldn't hurt my dogs and cat, they could live there forever. They aren't babies. They are almost as big as my cat, who weighs about 20 pounds.
