Kalamazoo Michigan Raccoon Control Situation: I have 4 Raccoons in my attic in my Kalamazoo home. They are getting in through a vent in the soffit. I have watched them from my bedroom window. When all 4 were out, at 0230 in the morning, I went out to cover the vent and they ran back in before I could get around the house. I have set the live trap you speak of and they reach through, take the bait and never sit off the spring door. I have no idea if there are babies or not, but there are 4 large ones. I purchased the cage, because I am on a very strict budget; however that was a year ago. Could you give me an approximate range of what it cost? My house is large and they are all over it when I hear them at night. Thank you for your very informative website and for any help you can give. I know someone who has had raccoons trapped at her home after hearing them moving around and even fighting in the space between her first and second floor over her living room. Now she says that she can smell waste when she is in her living room and thinks she can see a urine stain forming on her ceiling. I believe that there may have been a latrine left in this space and can only remedy the situation by removing the drywall and any waste, disinfecting the site, and replacing the drywall. Please respond with any comments or suggestions. Thank you.

Hi: I got your name from the internet on discussions of raccoons. I recently had a set of raccoons living in my beach house attic and supposedly they were locked out after they went out to find food. According to the workers, there were no babies. The next door neighbor saw five in her yard so I assume those were the ones that had been living in my house. They beat up her cat and gave the cat rabies I heard. Anyway I had my attic cleaned up and the walls that they had chewed on replaced. I have a smell in my house and I am not sure if the smell is from the house being closed up or if it is the raccoon's urine. Anyway the smell gets in my hair whenever I enter the house. Can the smell come through the vent?? Also, can you please tell me what kind of cleaner I can use to assure that the urine smell goes away and where I can buy the cleaner. Supposedly the workers used febreze to get rid of the odor. I would like to kill any roundworms or other disease that may have been left behind. Any help you offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Willett
