Denver Colorado Raccoon Control Situation: Hi David, My name is Amy. I saw your site online. I live in Denver, however, need some advice. Last night around 1am we heard a scratching sound. I thought something was in the attic. I went outside and noticed a big raccoon chewing on the wooden molding on the side of my house! It had also chewed up my gutter guards. I shined the flash light on it and it just peeked its head at me from around the corner. I didn't hear it for the rest of the night, but I am afraid it will come back. Is there a way I can get rid of it peacefully? Maybe if I sprinkle pepper or hot pepper on the roof, would that help? I don't believe in harming animals, so if you can advise any natural way to try to get rid of it to where it won't come back, please let me know. I had no idea they could chew on wood! Thanks, Amy

I googled and saw your site. I rented this home as is last month. I had a mold test done becasue something was not right. The smell in the home was not going away and I was told it was from being locked up for 4 yrs. I thought it was mold. Has a mold test done. this lead to a duct guy to come check out the mold. He found years worth of raccoon feces and the stains in the ceiling that were kilzed and bleached were actually raccoon urine through the sheet rock and the smell was not from pets but raccoons. I had the hygienist called back out and he took a swab of the area and said it will take a week because they have to grow a culture. I got on your site tonight. I was already told the levels of 5000 plus mold spore count were very high and I should see my doctor. My dog had a red ring on his tummy a couple weeks ago and I told my husband it looked like ring worm but he thought my other dog bit him. I think we put some cream on it but it faded in a few days. I can't believe the same owners that according to the neighbors fled the home in the middle of the night and abandoned the property in early 2005 would be this desperate for money to put my family in this health condition. I could not do that to my worst enemy. She has had the home on and off the market for just short periods like 2 or 3 month 2 times in the last 5 years. She left this home with all the food in the pantry the house was full of furniture and she just lied from the beginning. I want to know if you had any comparable stories and suggestions. Is there any blood tests we can do or is there a specific test we have to do with the poop. Why is it so much worse at night in the home. The air is really thick and smell is pronounced in the entire home. It smells like poop. -- Laurie
