Okay a raccoon problem. I put rat bait in those black boxes so nothing other than rats and mice is supposed to have access. The boxes are all attached to cables which are anchored to stakes, so the boxes cannot not go anywhere. If I fill 6 or 7 boxes with rat bait, within two days the raccoons will manage to get the bait out and eat it! I have tried wiring the bait in the corner of the box so they cannot get it, but they still manage to pull the wired bait out the entry hole and eat it! This is a large quantity of bait if you add up all the boxes! We live next to a stream and are surrounded by hundreds of acres of open space and have a problem with rates. I cannot seem to figure out what to do so the rats eat the bait but not the raccoons! We also trap the rats but we have too many not to bait (eating wire in cars, etc...) Any suggestions to get rid of rats/mice and not have the raccoons eat the bait?
